1. Mount Panorama and Historic town of Bathurst
After 2.5hrs on the road, West from Sydney, we arrived in the historic town of Bathurst. I've heard of Bathurst mostly from the races they have at Mount Panorama but it is also a historic town known for the first gold rush in Australia.
You can actually drive through the race track at Mount Panorama, speed limits apply of course. Up the top you can have a nice view of the city.
We did a quick stroll around the town centre and grabbed some lunch and went ahead to our journey to Orange.

2. Town of Parkes
Around 1.5hrs of drive West of Orange is the town of Parkes. It best known for the Elvis Festival and the CSIRO Radio Telescope popularly known as "The Dish" which is also the movie.
A quick walk around town and it was very evident to find the Elvis theme. I just wonder how it looks like during the festival.

3. The Falls Lookout and Walking Track
Because we love bush walking, one of the first stops we did is this lookout.
It's less than an hour walk return and medium level I think.
4. Lake Canobolas
At the foot of the Mount Canobolas is the Lake Canobolas. It was very serene and very relaxing to just walk around or have a picnic.
5. Towac Pinnacle Lookout
Beware that this is quite a steep walk up to the top. I recommend taking it easy and if possible bring water!
The views at the top are breathtaking though and you can view the massive land greeneries and some vineyards.
6. Mount Canobolas
Drive to the top of Mount Canobolas and read through some information about the area. Mount Canobolas is a dormant volcano actually so that's something!
There's a couple more bush walks from here if you are keen but we didn't go as we were too hungry and need some lunch.
7. Historic Town of Hill End
This town is quite a drive from Orange as it took us almost 3 hrs one way. Anyhow, I believe it is a good place for a night's stay or two to actually explore this town. There's a campground and quaint shops around.
8. Federal Falls and Walking Track
Ah we did this walk starting from the South Side which has some steep and rocky descent. The best way is to take the North Side and return the same way.
The Falls was refreshing after last 350m of steep descent.
9. Gosling Creek Reserve
Basically went here for fishing. It is quiet in the first time went and although we didn't catch a fish, I got to see a snake! Yikes!
10. Borenore Karst Cave
This is quite an easy walk and the pass through the cave was cool. The karst are also a sight to see as we didn't expect it to look that great from the information board!
Other things of note, if you want to explore more of Orange and surrounds:
- Orange Botanic Gardens - it was almost closing time when we went so I just walked around quickly haha
- Cook Park - looks like a nice park for picnics
- Go for fruit picking in one of the farms - we didn't try this though
- Go for a wine tasting - Orange is also popular for their wineries
- Agrestic Grocer
- Orange Regional Museum
- Town of Millthorpe
- Summer Hill Creek
- Town of Forbes
And that's it! Hope this list helps and if you have been to Orange, feel free to share your favourite spots too.
